On point 63. We should acknowledge that the variations of scale that have been allowed to proliferate have not always had a positive effect on the borough's townscape. Other towns that have perhaps been more successful in maintaining a consistent scale and character and are in many ways better for it.

On point 64. how many landmarks does Southend need? Consideration should be given as to whether developments that give a more consistent and ordered feel to the townscape might be more desirable.
