Would like to see unused or unclaimed buildings such as the shop at the corner of Hamlet Court Rd near Haarts, renovated and used rather than being an eyesore for so many years.
We have too many unused shops and not enough homes for people so I think it is good that some existing shops are being converted to living spaces. However, some of the new flats built eg at corner of Canewdon/Hamlet Court Rd have put additional shop spaces on the ground floor when HC Rd is already struggling to maintain usage of existing shops. Perhaps it's because people wouldn't want passers-by banging on their ground floor windows. A solution could be similar to what S&A Decorating Supplies at the corner of Milton and London Rd have done. About a metre deep of ground floor space is used for advertising and display, while the rest of that floor is used for living space.
