Tourism needs to be a key focus for promoting Southend and this should include redevelopment of the Pier which lacks attractions at the end. A hotel or leisure facility on the seafront would also bring in a new type of visitor and encourage them to stay overnight which will bring additional revenues to restaurants and local businesses.
